I have to get this spazzing out of my system.
I can honestly say that Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is the BEST and most EPIC display of anime that I have ever seen. I have moved me more than any anime has. And I have seen quite alot of anime like naruto, gundam, bleach, vampire knight, ruruouni kenshin, inuyasha, ouran, deathnote etc...
It even beat FullMetalAlchemist my favorite anime for 3 years. It MADE ME CRY. It made me create OBSESSIVE PLOT WEBS and it gave me MANY philsophical ideas pertaining to life.
Code Geass takes place at around 2017 when Brittainia has taken over 2/3 of the world and has stripped Japan amongst other countries of its nationality. The byphonic anti-hero protagnist is a genius Britannian student named Lelouch who one day is granted a power called a geass after running into a green haired immortal named CC. This geass power allows him to control anyone's will, but he can only use it once. He then goes under an alias as Zero, the masked hero to restore japan and eliminate Brittania, or so it seems.
All I can say is that this anime seriously deserves more attention. Sorry to all avatards, but being a former avatard myself, I found that the avatar finale was a major dissapointment. Not because I'm a Zutarian (HEck I could care less) but because of all the plot holes and the unepic ending.
To me it was just meh. :/ But that's my POV. I didn't think Aang really sacrificed anything, yet Bryke states that "the ending is more satisfying when the characters need to sacrifice something." pffffttt, like losing a sword and a boomeraang compared to Toph was really that much of a sacrifice.*OMG POOR SOKKA* *rolls eyes.
And that all it took for Aang to defeat the firelord was to get hit on the back by a rock and glow it up. Say sayonara to 60 episodes of useless training and plot development. Oh, and don't get me started on Ursa and the lion turtle "easy" button. And yes I agree with ~daveshan on all 27 things. This is why people who know how to look through senseless cliché western cartoons should never depend on it (in general). That's why there are so many foreign anime/manga fans.
Code Geass has all the great in a TV series and combines them into one. Heck, they even have CLAMP style art! If you love TRAGEDY, DRAMA, IRONY, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, CHOICES, JUSTICE, MORALITY and BALANCE within a show, or if you just want something that is "DARK AND INTRIGUING", Code Geass is for you. If you were dissapointed with the avatar finale like me, I highly recommend you to watch Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.
It's beautiful..
